Summary The Finance Ministry has stopped funds of Rs 3 billion to Higher Education Commission.
The amount had been allocated for increase in employees salaries, while the ministry has only released 7 percent out of 30 percent of the development funds allocated for the first three-months. The ministry stopped all the funds which were allocated for 50 percent increases in salaries of last year and 15 percent of current year.The ministry has not given any reason to stop the funds and has also informed the HEC that only 20 percent amount will be released.Many VCs met with HEC Chairman Javed Laghari and express their’s as well as employees’ reservations over non-payment of funds.
