Karachi's government school students display their colourful creativity

(Dunya News) – Students of the Fatima Jinnah Government Secondary School set a colourful exhibition showcasing vibrant paintings and artwork made out of waste materials.

The exhibition which displayed the students colourful creativity attracted many visitors from all corners of the city.

From showpieces made out of used ice cream sticks to clay pots decorated with mirrors in the traditional kundun style, the exhibition had a variety of articles each the fruit of labour and creativity of young students.

Depicting the Sindhi culture, a Sindhi baithak was also designed by young girls of the government school who used discarded items for their artwork. Visitors commended the young girls for their creativity that was on full display at the exhibition.

Inspired by local tradition and culture, the students produced cultural transformations of Mona Lisa in various traditional colours of Pakistan, clad in a burqa, and other traditional attires.

Famous singer and education activist Shehzad Roy also commended the students for their work. “What could be more beautiful than standing in a government school close to Lyari and witnessing an art room which may very well be much better than any of the best art colleges,” said Roy.

Traditional Gilgiti music set the mood at the exhibition with not just students but also visitors dancing to its tune.
