PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – A Peshawar court has handed down sentences to excise police officers for failing to comply with judicial orders in an ongoing case.

The court imposed 10-day jail terms and fines of PKR 500 each on seven officers, including Excise SHO Sher Muhammad, and personnel Abdullah, Lal Gul, Shiraz, Farooq, Saqlain, and Nasir Mahmood.

According to the prosecution, the officers were listed as witnesses in a legal case but repeatedly failed to appear before the court to provide testimony.

Following their non-appearance, the court initiated proceedings against all seven under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), holding them accountable for contempt of court.

The ruling underscores the judiciary’s firm stance on compliance with legal summons and the accountability of law enforcement personnel in judicial proceedings.
