ARIFWALA (Dunya News) - A man has been accused of murdering his niece with an axe, purportedly in an act of honour killing, in Bhatta No 2 area of Punjab's Arifawala.
The victim, a divorced woman who was staying as a guest at her uncle's residence, tragically met her death while asleep.
According tol law-enforcement officials, the grisly incident unfolded when the suspect attacked his niece with an axe while she was in her slumber.
Disturbingly, after committing the heinous act, he remained seated beside the lifeless body of the young woman.
The authorities swiftly responded to the scene on receiving information about the crime.
The suspect was promptly apprehended by police who initiated a thorough investigation into the alleged honour killing.
The body of the deceased has been shifted to a nearby hospital for postmortem examination.
