Summary CTD arrests five terrorists in Punjab IBOs
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday arrested five terrorist after conducting Intelligence-Based Operations (IBO) across Punjab.
The anti-terrorism watchdog conduced 24 IBOs is some districts of Punjab after the tragic incidents of terrorism in the province. The operations were meant to ensure there is no untoward incident in future.
The CTD officials said the arrested terrorists were identified as Asrar Ahmad, Farooq Shah, Saifullah, Syed Shahzaib Iqbal and Ahmad Khan who belonged to proscribed organisations, adding that material to make suicide jackets, explosives, weapons and banned literature were recovered from their possession. The suspects, they said, had been planning terrorist attacks in some areas.
The alleged terrorists had been shifted to an undisclosed area after cases were registered against them in Sheikhupura, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan.
Officials further said more than 21,000 people were checked in 504 combing operations and 153 suspects were arrested.
