Quetta video scandal: One more emerges for being victimized into obscenity

QUETTA (Dunya news) – According to reports, two accused involved in blackmailing girls by making their obscene videos were arrested and are under investigation on the complaint of a girl who was abducted by the accused. They are charged for forced sex slavery and trafficking activities.

Both of the accused are identified as Hidayatullah and Khalil who are currently in police custody on physical remand, Quaidabad police registered an FIR against the two brothers on the complaint of the girls mother.

Quaidabad Superintendent of Police (SP) Irtaza Qumail said that the two suspects are on 14-day physical remand with the police. He further said a third girl had also come forward with complaints against the two suspects. 

Moreover, Mobile phones, videos and USBs recovered from the accused were sent to Punjab Forensic Laboratory for forensics. The accused used to make videos by tricking girls into giving them jobs and later blackmailed them.

FIR was registered at Quaidabad police station on the complaint of a victim under Sections 354-A, 376, 376-A, 496-A , 503 and 506-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The FIA Cyber Crime Wing has also been contacted in connection with the video scandal, police sources told.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo issued a statement on the matter and gave directions to expedite the investigation process, he said, "this is our war now" and that government shall not allow the  sanctity of womanhood  to be destroyed.

Furthermore, through investigations it has been revealed that two kidnapped girls had last been traced in Afghanistan s capital of Kabul. The girls were sent to Afghanistan by their family.

Adviser to the Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs Mir Ziaullah Langove said that the authorities have contacted Afghan government through Foreign Office to seek repatriation of two sisters to Pakistan to help further investigate the video scandal.

Growing public anger on violence against women 

Members of civil society protested against the video scandal. The protest was Led by human rights activists Huma Foladi, Seema Batool and Hameeda Nooral. They gathered outside Quetta Press Club and chanted slogans demanding the government to take strict action against the culprits. 

They said that the prime suspects were booked in a similar case earlier as well but no legal action was taken against him due to support of influential people.
