Minor girl raped, beheaded by brothers, uncle in India
The brothers and uncle of a minor Dalit girl in Madhya Pradesh have been charged with the crime.
(Web Desk) - The family members of a 12-year-old Dalit girl have been charged with the crime of raping and beheading her in the district of Sagar in Madhya Pradesh. Three brothers, uncle, and aunt of the victim have been charged by the police and out of five, four accused have been arrested while one is absconding.
Police said that one of the accused is a minor, the Hindustan Times reported.
The victim, a student of Class 6, was reported missing on March 13. Her body and the severed head were found the next day in a field outside Berkhedi village. The police also declared a reward of Rs 10,000 and later increased it to Rs 25,000 for information pertaining to the case.
Sagar s superintendent of police Amit Sanghi told that the victim was strangled and her head was chopped off when she threatened the men that she would inform the police. After killing her, the men dropped her body and the severed head in an agricultural field.
Police also said that the girl s aunt was aware of the incident but misled the police by holding a neighbour responsible for the crime.
The neighbour later turned out to be innocent. Police said that they received a tip-off that the 20-year-old elder brother of the victim, could also be involved in the crime.
When police questioned the 19-year-old younger brother, he confessed to the crime.
"It appears the elder brother had raped the victim earlier also. On that day everyone was out for work except the elder brother and taking advantage of this he raped his sister," Sanghi said, as quoted by a media report.
"While in the act, the other two brothers, including the minor, came and they both raped her. Meanwhile, the girl s uncle, who is in his late forties, also came by. Initially, he scolded everyone and then he too raped her," he added.
