Peshawar police open fire on youth for escaping from checkpoint

During interrogation, the youth tried to flee while abandoning the vehicle.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Police opened fire and injured a youth after he refused to stop at a checkpoint in Peshawar on Monday.

Details suggest that the incident occurred near Tauheedabad police checkpost in the jurisdiction of Yaka Toot police station.

The policemen signaled the man to stop as he was going on the motorcycle not bearing any number plate.

During interrogation, the youth tried to flee while abandoning the vehicle.

The policemen opened fire on him following which he received a bullet on his foot. The youth was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where he is said to be out of danger.

CCPO Qazi Jamilur Rehman while taking notice of the incident suspended checkpoint incharge, head constable and constable.

A departmental inquiry has also been ordered.
