Couple injured in alleged police firing in Karachi

The couple was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center where they were given treatment.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A man and his wife was injured in an alleged police firing in Korangi No 5 area.

The injured were identified as 40-year-old Adnan, son of Arfeen, and his wife, 30-year-old Saqiba Bibi. The couple was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center where they were given treatment. The medical staff said that Saqiba Bibi underwent surgery and both were out of danger.

The witnesses said that the police were carrying out snap-checking when they opened fire on suspects riding a motorcycle who managed to escape, however, a couple who was passing by the scene was accidently hit by bullets and injured.

Police officials claimed that the couple was not injured by the police firing. They unfortunately wounded when the suspects opened fire while trying to escape.

The Sindh Inspector General (IG) of police has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the District Korangi police chief.
