Malir slated as drug trade hub
Police allegedly patronise drug dealers.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – An alarming increase in the number of drug users has led to Rehri Goth area of Malir district being dubbed the hub of drug trafficking.
Drug users claim half of the area has become addicted to the use and abuse of drugs. Police allegedly patronise drug dealers due to which the youth has become addicted to narcotics.
Residents of Rehri Goth, especially the youth, have resorted to frequent drug use. Law enforcement authorities allegedly make the most out the situation as they get to receive monetary benefits in return for ‘protection’ they provide to the drug dealers.
Drug dealers claim the number of persons selling narcotics is staggering and, at one point in time, there are as many as 1,200 individuals involved in drug abuse.
Such activities raise a question mark over authorities’ performance.
