Human smuggling: Finance Ministry's official, two others sent on three-day physical remand

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A local court in Islamabad on Wednesday sent an official of Finance Ministry Shahid Iqbal, Saudi embassy driver Ibrar and Dr Sajid on three-day physical remand over their involvement in human smuggling.

The suspects were presented in senior civil judge Abdul Gafoor Kakar’s court.

The investigation officer told the court that Shahid Iqbal is a technical assistant in Finance Ministry, Ibrar works as Saudi embassy’s driver whereas Dr Sajid runs a homeopathic clinic.

He said that police recovered 30 passports and other documents from their possession.

The officer informed the court that the group while working with Hajj operators used to get the quota and is also involved in human trafficking.

Police has also find proofs of involvement of significant personalities in the group, he added.

The court while approving the remand gave the suspects in Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody for three-days.

The judge also directed to present the suspects in the court after completing the interrogation.
