DUBAI (AP) - The daughter of a 70-year-old American man who visited the United Arab Emirates to speak at a conference says he has been arrested in the Gulf nation for taking a photograph in a restricted area.
Robert Alan Black s daughter, Jessica Beasley, said Monday she is concerned about her father s health in jail and believes any inappropriate pictures the Athens, Georgia, man may have taken were unintentional.
She says Black was arrested on Oct. 21 after taking part in a creativity conference in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.
The U.S. Embassy had no comment. Abu Dhabi police officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
A number of foreigners have been prosecuted by a state security court in recent years for taking pictures of subjects deemed prohibited by authorities.
