THE HAGUE (AP) - The International Criminal Court has rejected a bid by lawyers for Kenya s president to halt his trial on charges that he orchestrated deadly violence after his country s 2007 elections.

Lawyers for President Uhuru Kenyatta had called for a "permanent stay" in the case, claiming that prosecutors are "presiding over an utterly corrupt and dishonest case." Kenyatta insists he is innocent.

Judges rejected the argument Thursday, meaning Kenyatta s trial will go ahead as planned on Feb. 5.
