AHMEDABAD (Dunya News) - South Africa delivered a commanding performance to defeat India by 76 runs in the Super Eight match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, bringing an end to India’s remarkable winning streak in the tournament.
Chasing a challenging target of 188, India’s batting lineup faltered under pressure and collapsed dramatically.
Wickets fell in quick succession as the Proteas bowlers dominated proceedings.
Shivam Dube was the top scorer for India with 42 runs, while Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav contributed 18 runs each.
Apart from these contributions, none of the Indian batters managed to make a significant impact, and the entire side was bowled out for 111 in the 19th over.
South Africa’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Marco Jansen, who claimed four wickets in a decisive spell.

Keshav Maharaj picked up three wickets, while Corbin Bosch chipped in with two, dismantling India’s strong batting order with disciplined and aggressive bowling.
Earlier in the match played in Ahmedabad, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first.
The decision proved fruitful as they posted an imposing total of 187 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
David Miller led the charge with a well-compiled 63, anchoring the innings with authority.
Dewald Brevis provided solid support with 45 runs, while Tristan Stubbs added 44 to bolster the Proteas total.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler with three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh claimed two scalps.
The defeat marked India’s first loss in the T20 World Cup after a run of 12 consecutive victories.
The defending champions had remained unbeaten since the 2024 edition of the tournament, making this loss a significant setback in their campaign.
