(Web Desk) – The West Indies were the first team to reach the Super Eights stage of the T20 World Cup after they easily defeated Nepal by nine wickets on Sunday.

The West Indies restricted Nepal to 133-8 in their quota of 20 overs after putting them in to bat and raced to the target losing a single wicket with 28 balls to spare.

Skipper Shai Hope led the West Indies charge with 61 off 44 balls hitting five fours and three sixes. He remained unbeated along with Shimron Hetmyer who scored 46 runs on 32 deliveries with the help of four fours and two sixes. Opener Brandon King was the wicket to fall for 22.

For Nepal, Dipendra Singh Airee was the top scorer with 58 runs, Lokesh Bam scored 13, Asif Sheikh 11, and Gulshan Jha 11. Four players failed to reach double figures, while Sompal Kami remained not out on 26 runs.

For West Indies, Jason Holder took four wickets, while Akeal Hosein, Matthew Forde, Shamar Joseph, and Roston Chase took one wicket each.

Both teams are in Group C and playing their third match of the ongoing tournament. West Indies have already defeated England and Scotland in their first two matches, while Nepal suffered defeats against Italy and England in their two matches.
