President Zardari and PM Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Pakistan's cricket team on their 22-run win over Australia in the opening T20. Both praised players, PCB, and Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
ISLAMABAD (APP) - President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday congratulated the national cricket team on their win over Australia in the opening T20 International of the three-match series.
The match took place on Thursday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where Pakistan defeated Australia by 22 runs in the opening game.
In their separately issued statements, the president and prime minister commended the players’ efforts, strategy, discipline, and exemplary teamwork which made the victory possible.
President Zardari said that the victory highlighted Pakistan’s positive image in sports and congratulated the Pakistan Cricket Board, especially Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, on the outstanding performance and extended best wishes for further wins in the upcoming matches.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also praised the outstanding performance of the players, particularly the bowlers, describing the win as a result of the players’ hard work and dedication.
He said that the team had capability to win the entire series if they continued to work with the same commitment and diligence as defeating a strong team like Australia after a long time was undoubtedly manifested the players’ efforts.
The prime minister also commended PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, his team, and the coaches and extended his best wishes to the entire team for the upcoming matches in the series.
