Bangladesh refuses to play T20 World Cup matches in India due to security concerns. Deadlock continues with ICC as talks aim to find a safe solution.
DHAKA (Dunya News) The deadlock over Bangladesh’s participation in India for the T20 World Cup continues, with the team standing firm on moving its matches out of India.
A recent video conference between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ended without any resolution. The ICC emphasized that the tournament schedule is already finalized, while the BCB reiterated its position to relocate the matches.
Both sides have agreed to keep talking to find a possible solution. The BCB said its stance remains unchanged but assured that it is committed to maintaining constructive dialogue with the ICC to ensure the safety of players, officials, and staff.
The issue follows pressure from Hindu extremists, which led to Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman being released from the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In response to security threats, the BCB had earlier announced the team would not travel to India, and it is still awaiting a response from the ICC.
