(Web Desk) – Australian veteran spinner Nathan Lyon has surpassed fellow fast bowler Glenn McGrath to become the second-highest wicket-taker for Australia in Test cricket.

During the third Ashes Test being played in Adelaide, Nathan Lyon took two wickets in his very first over to achieve this feat.

Lyon overtook Glenn McGrath, who had 563 Test wickets. Nathan Lyon’s tally has now reached 564 wickets, achieving the milestone by dismissing Ben Duckett.

The record for the most Test wickets for Australia is held by Shane Warne, who took 708 wickets. Nathan Lyon has now moved to sixth place on the overall list of highest wicket-takers in Test cricket.

Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan tops the list with 800 wickets, followed by Shane Warne in second place. England’s legendary fast bowler James Anderson is third with 704 wickets, while India’s Anil Kumble (619) and England’s Stuart Broad (604) are fourth and fifth respectively.
