(Web Desk) – The Indian cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as the Board of Control for Cricket in India is reluctant to grant permission, it emerged on Thursday.

Indian media claimed that BCCI had proposed Sri Lanka and Dubai as venue for the India matches of the tournament.

The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held from February to March 2025 in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had proposed to India to play all their matches in Lahore.

However, the India cricket board is not ready to allow the team to travel to Pakistan.

Since 2008's Asia Cup, India has not played any cricket tournaments in Pakistan due to heightened relationships between both nations.

It is recalled that Pakistan team travelled to India last year for participation in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.

Last week, PCB sent revised schedule of Champions Trophy to the International Cricket Council, proposing March 1 as date for the high-voltage clash between host and India in Lahore.

The schedule was circulated to the seven other countries which will participate in the cricket event to be hosted by Pakistan in 2025.

The tournament will begin on Feb 19, 2025 with first match to be played in Karachi while it will conclude on March 9 in Lahore. There will be reserve day on March 10 for the final of the event.

Karachi will host three matches and Rawalpindi five matches while seven matches will be played in Lahore, according to the revised schedule.

Karachi and Rawalpindi are scheduled to host a semifinal each.

Champions Trophy’s Group A will feature Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and New Zealand while Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan form the Group B.
