(Web Desk) – Indian pacer Mohammed Shami claimed five-wicket haul in Sri Lanka match, powering his side to semi-final round of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023.

When he took the fifth wicket, the right-arm bowler sat on his knees with palms of his both hands touching the ground as apparently, it looks that he is going to offer a 'Sajda' to thank Almighty for the achievement.

The very next moment, it seems he abstains from doing so and sits with his knees bent and other team players coming forward to cheer him over the magical bowling spell.

The pose made by Shami after the fifer sparked a debate on social media with a section claiming that the pacer stopped himself from doing a Sajda due to Islamophobic environment in India.

Another claimed that the Indian-Muslim bowler did not go for Sajda due to rising extremism in the country against minorities.

Amid all these speculations, it is unclear whether Shami was going to offer the Sajda. If yes, then why did he abstain from doing it?
