Zaman lavishes praise on Umar Gul, Lasith Malinga
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan pacer Zaman Khan said on Sunday that former cricketers Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi and Shoaib Akthar had always been his inspiration.
Speaking to media, Mr Khan was of the view that with the support of the senior players in the team, the confidence of the newcomer increased.
The 21-year-old cricketer recalled the T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, saying, "The pitches in Sharjah were new, due to which the batters could not perform well. The series against Afghanistan turned out to be great, considering that the win or loss is part of the game.
Heaping praise on former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga, Mr Khan said, "Watching Lasith Malinga turned out to be fruitful in the death overs. That was why in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), in the death overs I bowled with great momentum."
He talked about his journey with Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, Mr Khan said, "In Lahore Qalandars’ dressing room, plenty of support was extended to me. I have learned a lot from Qalandars’ skippers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. I cannot tell about the efforts I put, while donning the Qalandars’ outfit."
Sharing his thoughts over the national team’s interim bowling coach, Umar Gul, Mr Khan said, "Umar Gul, who is a legend, paving the way for me to learn a lot."
