Babar Azam to get back in the saddle for New Zealand series
Selection committee will meet next week to finalise
LAHORE (Web Desk) – After humiliating series loss to Afghanistan under stand-in captain Shadab Khan, Babar Azam will resume charge as skipper of the national squad in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against New Zealand.
A meeting of the selection committee would be held next week to finalise the squad for both series against Kiwis. It is expected that no major changes would be made in the team as management wants to provide another chance to the young players.
A training camp would start at the National Cricket Academy from April 7 or 8, while the players of both T20I and ODI squads will train together.
On Monday, an all-round performance from captain Shadab Khan led Pakistan to a 66-run win over Afghanistan in the third T20I of the three-match series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
This was Pakistan’s first win in the T20I series as Afghanistan had already taken an unassailable lead in the series by winning the first and second T20Is by six and seven wickets, respectively.
