Summary BBL 2022: Short leads Strikers to easy victory against Thunder
ADELAIDE (Web Desk) – Sydney Thunder were defeated by Adelaide Strikers by 6 wickets thanks to opener Matthew Short’s 44-ball 65 and Henry Thornton’s 2-18 at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.
Thunder’s captain Chris Green elected to bat first after winning the toss. Attempting to rebound from back-to-back losses, international player Alex Hales of the Sydney Thunder went on to play a scorching 68-run innings that was peppered with six fours and three sixes. Oliver Davies scored 30-ball 42 , which was a significant addition to the Thunder s total.
The Strikers bowling attack, though, was what kept the Thunder’s batters to a total of 150-5. Henry Thornton (2-18) and Colin de Grandhomme (2-27) picked up two wickets each for the Strikers, while Rashid Khan (1-25) claimed a wicket.
Despite losing Jake Weatherald (9-ball 7) on 9, the Adelaide Strikers began their 151 run chase cautiously. But Mathew Short s excellent knock gave the Strikers the upper hand. While also scoring 28 runs each, Chris Lynn and Adam Hose helped the Strikers thrash the Thunder.
Only Gurinder Sandhu (1-18) and Nathan McAndrew (2-25) filled the wickets column for the Thunder .
