Bahawalpur Royals dismantle Gwadar Sharks to bag maiden PJL title

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Shahwaiz, who looked belligerent for 32-ball 79 and Zeeshan’s fiery spell with the bowl (3-27) helped Bahawalpur Royals dismantle Gwadar Sharks to bag the maiden title of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

Winning the toss, the skipper of Gwadar Sharks sent the Bahawalpur Royals to bat, but this decision turned out to be costly for the Sharks as the Royals batters set a terrific platform by posting a massive total on the scorecard by ending the innings on 225-3, which was steered well by Shahwaiz (79 off 32) and Tayyab (56 off 34). Besides this, Kharotai scored unbeaten 30-ball 47 and was followed by Basit, who made healthy contribution to the scorecard by scoring 23-ball 35.

With the exception of Qamar (2-34) and Shoaib (1-28), there is nothing special to talk about the Sharks’ bowling. Qamar bagged two wicket, while Shoaib took a scalp.

Defending the huge total of 226, in the final match, considering the pressure on the Sharks, Bahawalpur Royals managed to topple the innings of the Sharks as the Sharks were bowled out on 139 in the 19th over.

With the exception of Shamyl, who looked brilliant for his 34-ball 67, only two batters – Ibrahim (20 off 17) and Minhas (19 off 9) – managed to reach the double fingers.

Carrying on the momentum provided by the Royals’ batters, bowlers were outstanding as Zeeshan (3-27) and Kharotai (3-32) took three wickets each, while Sajjad (2-15) bagged two wickets and Nawab (1-26) grabbed one wicket.
