Rizwan leads Pakistan to big win in tri-series opener.

CHRISTCHURCH (Dunya News) - Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has lead his side to a big win against Bangladesh in the first match of the Triangular Series in Christchurch on Friday. Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 21 runs.

Setting the target of 168 runs, Pakistani bowlers restricted Bangladesh on 146-8.

Rizwan anchored the innings with the bat. With the ball, Wasim Jnr. was stunning and bagged three wickets. While Pakistan main fast bowler Haris Rauf was hostile and managed to grab a wicket. Shahnawaz Dahani was excellent with the bowl, conceding only 24 runs and took a wicket as well. Mohammad Nawaz bowled tight and was rewarded with two wickets.

For his prolific innings of 78 runs, Rizwan was awarded Player of the match award. While in post-match presentation ceremony, he said, "It’s a proud moment for me. We keep things simple. It was a good batting track, we thought we were 10-15 short despite playing well. Our bowlers did well to defend the total."

He also addressed the incident when he slipped during the match. "I always use spikes, but it was a bit slippery today," he said.

While talking about the win and his performance, Rizwan said, "I believe in hard work and leave it to Allah for the rest. Some of the boundaries are big here. But we are playing the ball on the merit. Without a plan, it becomes difficult."

The Men In Green will now face the hosts, New Zealand on Saturday in the second match of the tri-series.
