Pak Vs Eng 2nd T20I: England win toss, elects to field first

MANCHESTER (Dunya News) – England beat Pakistan by five wickets to win the second Twenty20 international of the three-match series at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday.

Morgan blasted 66 from 33 balls to secure the win in what is the highest chase in any form of 20-over cricket at Old Trafford.

Jonny Bairstow (44 from 24 balls) and Tom Banton (20 from 16 balls) got their side off to a fast start with an opening stand of 66 in 38 deliveries, but when they fell in consecutive balls to spinner Shadab Khan (3-34), the home side appeared to wobble.

But Morgan and Dawid Malan (54 not out in 36 balls) led the counter-attack and accelerated as their third-wicket partnership grew, finishing with 112 in 62 balls before the skipper was caught in the deep with the side still needing 18 runs to win.

Playing first, Pakistan posted a total of 195/4 in 20 overs after being sent in to bat by hosts England.

Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez scored half-centuries, to help the visitors post their highest T20I score against England. Spinner Adil Rashid picked two wickets with pacers Tom Curran and Chris Jordan accounting for a wicket apiece.

Earlier, England won the toss and elected to field first.

Victory put England 1-0 in a three-match contest following Friday s no-result washout in Manchester.

Both teams were unchanged from the sides that played out a no result in Friday s first of a three-match series in Manchester, where rain ended the match with England 131-6 off 16.1 overs and Pakistan yet to bat.

England s total featured opener Tom Banton s dashing 71, with the 21-year-old Somerset batsman given another chance to impress on Saturday following his maiden Twenty20 international fifty.
