COVID-19 tests of players, officials for England tour enter 2nd phase
PCB had announced that ten players and a player support personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The COVID-19 tests of Pakistan players and team officials Thursday entered second phase ahead of England tour at a private hotel in Lahore, Dunya News reported.
According to details, samples of 24 players and officials, who were cleared earlier, were taken today. Those individuals who were tested negative before checked into a bio-secure floor of the hotel.
The PCB had conducted coronavirus tests of reserve players – including Imran Butt, Bilal Asif, Muhammad Musa and Mohammad Nawaz – on Wednesday. Those who were tested positive in first phase will be retested on Saturday.
On the other hand, chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has started consultations over selection of substitute players.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still silent over the matter of Mohammad Hafeez who claimed that he was tested negative for coronavirus after being declared positive by the governing body.
Let it be known that the PCB had announced that ten players and a player support personnel from a total of 35 had tested positive for COVID-19.
The PCB had organized these 35 tests in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar on Monday.
The players who had tested positive included: Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, Wahab Riaz, Haider Ali, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf

The player who had tested negative included: Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Iftikhar Ahmad, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Sohail Khan, and Yasir Shah
Pakistan are due to depart for England on Sunday ahead of a series that will see them play three Tests and three Twenty20 internationals against England, starting in August.
