BRADFORD (Web Desk) - England s World Cup winning cricket star Adil Rashid has been exposed by Inland Revenue after he failed to pay more than £100,000 worth of tax.
The Bradford-born cricketer, who lives in the Toller Lane area, defaulted on his tax returns over four years from 2013-2017. He has been ordered to pay £100,280.89 in back taxes on top of a penalty.
He has been fined £36,608.13 by the taxman for the four-year misdemeanor and publicly named and shamed in the latest tax evader list from Her Majesty s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
The star appears alongside restauranteurs, builders and second hand car salesmen.
A spokesperson for HMRC said: “The majority of businesses and individuals pay the tax that they owe, but for the minority who refuse to pay, HMRC has a range of tools available.
“We are able to publish the names of those penalised under civil procedures for deliberately defaulting on certain tax obligations. This is about influencing behaviour by encouraging defaulters to engage with HMRC.”
