LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Tuesday confirmed it received Umar Akmal’s response to the Notice of Charge, which was issued on 17 March for two violations of Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code in unrelated incidents.

The PCB will now review and examine Umar Akmal’s response and provide further details on the next steps in due course. Until that stage, the PCB will not make any further comments on this matter.

Let it be known that the governing body had suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, which meant he could not take part in any cricket-related activity pending the investigation being carried out by PCB s Anti-Corruption Unit.

The decision was announced on February 20, the opening day of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020. Umar Akmal’s team Quetta Gladiators were scheduled to play Islamabad United later in the evening. The 29-year-old was eventually replaced by Anwar Ali.
