Lahore Qalandars elect to field first against Peshawar Zalmi

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Helped by fiery 63 and 59 runs from Fakhar Zaman and Chris Lynn, Lahore Qalanards crush Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets Tuesday in the 24th match of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League 2020 in Lahore on Tuesday.

Zaman and Lynn changed the game with their crisp 63 and 59 to help Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi by five wicket at the Qaddafi Stadium. After the victory, Lahore Qalandars jumped to the third position on the points table.

Brathwaite took three for 28 but his all hard work in vain when Wiese hit six on second last ball of the match.

Playing first, Peshawar Zalmi set a target of 188 against Lahore Qalandars. Haider Ali top scored for Peshawar scoring 69 off 43 balls hitting 4 sixes and 4 fours. Shaheen Shah Afridi spearheaded for Lahore getting 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs. 

Lahore Qalandars won the toss and opted to filed first against Peshawar Zalmi.

Peshawar Zalmi are placed second on the points table with 9 points from eight matches while Lahore Qalandars are fifth with six points from seven matches.

A win in today’s encounter will ensure Zalmi’s berth in the playoffs. Qalandars will jump to third place if they emerge victorious at their home ground. Both captains are confident to display good cricket as the group stage is moving towards its end.

Peshawar Zalmi had defeated Lahore Qalandars by 16 runs in their first game of the PSL V at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. In the rain-hit match which was reduced to 12 overs, Zalmi set a target of 133 runs for Qalandars who could manage to score only 116 runs in reply.
