Lahore Qalandars win toss, opt to bowl first against Islamabad United

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by 71 runs in the 17th match of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 at Qaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing the 199-run target, the Qalandars lost Chris Lynn in the first over and everything went awry from there. The previous night’s hero Ben Dunk scored a 15-ball 25 but when he departed in the 9th over with the score 57-3, it was all over. A comedy of dismissals followed as Lahore returned back to losing ways.

Playing first, Islamabad United set a target of 199 runs in 20 overs for Qalandars after they were invited to bat first.

Islamabad openers Luke Ronchi (48) and Colin Munro (unbeaten 87 off 59) manhandled Lahore bowlers, giving their side a 103-run opening stand — a stand that was later embellished by Colin Ingram and Asif Ali.
