LAHORE (Dunya News) – Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by one wicket in the seveth fixture of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Shadab Khan performed with the bat to lead Islamabad s revival. He made 54 runs from 29 balls before Haris Rauf dismissed him.

The United skipper had some support from Malan who scored a run-a-ball 22 runs before Wiese dismissed him.

Playing first, Lahore Qalandars set a target of 183 runs at the loss of six wickets Islamabad United have won the toss and elected to field first.

Muhammad Hafeez smashed 98 runs and remained not out.

Speaking after winning the toss, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan said they have decided to bowl first as there is some moisture on the pitch and they will try to exploit it. 

Lahore Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar said they would have also decided to bowl first had they won the toss. “Anyhow, we will try to score 170-plus to give a tough time to our opponents,” he added.

Islamabad United have already played two matches – losing the first by three wickets to Quetta Gladiators on the opening day at Karachi and winning the second by a big margin of eight wickets against Multan Sultans at Lahore on Saturday.

Qalandars, who are the only side yet to win a game this season, made two changes to the side that succumbed to a meek defeat against Multan Sultans.

Samit Patel, who was left out in the first game, comes into the team to replace Ben Dunk. Dilbar Hussain also makes way, with Faizan Khan replacing him. There s one change for Islamabad United, with young Ahmed Safi Abdullah in place of Akif Javed.
