KARACHI (Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Cricket Boad (PCB) Ehsan Mani on Wednesday said that Pakistan Super League (PSL) is the biggest event of country, Dunya News reported.
Talking to media at the National Stadium in Karachi Ehsan Mani also indicated that few matched to the PSL next edition (PSL-6) will be played at the Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar.
Ehsan Mani said that the willingness of overseas stars to sign up illustrates how security has improved in a country where the army has fought a militant insurgency for years.
"So many players touring Pakistan shows the confidence they have in playing in Pakistan," said Mani, who took over last year with the aim of bringing cricket home.
"For the fans, this will be a long-awaited opportunity to see their cricketing heroes live in action and reinforce their love for this great game after being left deprived."
Earlier, Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 trophy was unveiled at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday, in what was the first-ever trophy unveiling ceremony for the tournament on Pakistani soil.
Squash icon Jahangir Khan brought the glittering trophy to the stadium before unveiling it alongside Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani and other officials.
Captains of the PSL franchises and their owners were also present on the occasion.
Strict security arrangements had been put in place, and police and rangers have been deployed inside and around the National Stadium in Karachi for the first exciting match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.
The Karachi administration and the traffic police have already issued the traffic plan for the PSL 2020 matches.
The spectators intending to enter the National Stadium Karachi to watch the match must show their original ticket along with their original CNIC to proceed to the stadium, said a statement.
The visitors will be provided parking facilities in the notified parking sites include Urdu University Ground, Gharib Nawaz Football Stadium near Millennium Mall, Expo Centre and Rana Liaquat Girls College opposite Aga Khan Hospital, Stadium Road.
