But the celebratory run that caught the eye of netizens was of Imran Tahir’s enthusiastic sprint after taking the wickets of Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq, which sparked innumerable memes.
Imran Tahir 40, the oldest cricketer to play from South Africa in a World Cup tournament, was born in Pakistan and even played for the junior team in 1988. Interestingly enough he met his lady love of Indian origin in South Africa and both decided to get married. Imran Tahir moved to South Africa and got his chance to play for the Proteas in 2011.
He became the highest wicket taker for South Africa in a World Cup, hence his victory lap more so.
ICC in a tweet acknowledged the legend who surpassed Allan Donald’s record of 38 wickets.

But his personal record had little effect on the outcome of the match which was in the end a well-deserved win for Pakistan. Ecstatic at the win cybernauts infused humor in good spirit at the sprint of Imran Tahir, whose team got knocked out of the World Cup 2019 after Pakistan’s 49 run victory.
