Muhammad Amir to miss 3rd ODI against England
He had missed second ODI against England owing to what was termed as viral infection.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistani pacer Muhammad Amir will miss the third match One Day International (ODI) against England after it was learnt that the speedster has contracted chickenpox.
He had missed the second ODI against England in Southampton owing to what was termed by the team officials as viral infection and now, he is most likely to miss the third encounter as well in the five-match series.
Amir s poor run of form since Pakistan s impressive Champions Trophy win in 2017 against India urged the selectors to drop his name. He had picked only five wickets in the 15 ODIs he played since the victory. However, he hasn t conceded a lot of runs in between the period with his economy rate being 4.58.
Amir was later named in the reserve list with the England ODI series serving as the last chance for the pacer to pull off a comeback. As per ICC rulebook for World Cup 2019, each team can make changes to their preliminary squad on or before May 23.
If Amir does not make it to the World Cup this time, it will be his third World Cup that he’s missed after missing the 2011 and 2015 editions because he was serving a five-year ban for his role in the Lord’s spot-fixing scandal of 2010.
The pace department for Pakistan since they landed in England has become a concern for Mickey Arthur and Sarfraz Ahmed. Amir’s likely replacement for Tuesday’s ODI may be Mohammad Hasnain.
