Moeen Ali ruled out of first ODI against Pakistan

(Web Desk) – England all-rounder Moeen Ali has been ruled out of the first limited over match of the series against Pakistan with a rib injury.
Ali has been running with good form throughout the Indian Premier League this season.

Jason Roy is also unlikely to feature at The Oval on Wednesday due to a back problem but Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes are all in contention again having been rested for the ODI against Ireland and the T20I win over Pakistan.
Mark Wood is also back with the squad but has not bowled competitively since the final T20I on England s tour of the Caribbean in March and we understand the hosts will leave him out on Wednesday to allow him to get more overs under his belt in the nets.
Ali, Roy and Wood are expected to feature later in the series but in their absence Joe Denly and James Vince are likely to be given another chance to press their claims for a place in the final 15 for the World Cup.
England have two wins under their belt over the weekend, beating Ireland in Dublin and Pakistan in the one-off T20 match.
The five-match ODI series between Pakistan and England commences on Wednesday, May 8.
Meanwhile Jofra Archer made an impressive debut in the Sunday’s T20I and likely to grab his chances now in the 50-over competition as well. “He’s fitted into the group extremely well,” England head coach Trevor Bayliss said of Archer.
“He’s a fairly quiet sort of a guy. He looked very nervous in that first game in Ireland as anyone making their debuts usually are.
