LAHORE (Dunya News) – Adjudicator Justice Fazal-e-Miran adjourned today (May 2) the misconduct case of Board of Governors (BOG) member Muhamad Numan Butt till May 10.

According to Dunya News, Numan Butt’s appeal to attend the standing committee sessions till hearing date was rejected by the court as committee chairman Agha Hassan Baloch barred him from BoG meetings.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani had received a complaint from another member of its Board of Governors against Numan Butt for misconduct.

Ehsan Mani has been directed to bar Numan, head of Sialkot region, and issue notice to two other members, Shah Dost from Quetta and Kabir Ahmed Khan from Fata.

As such, and as per Article 10 (6) of the PCB Constitution, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has referred the complaint to an independent adjudicator, Mr Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan. This means as per Article 10 (7) and pending the outcome of the proceedings, Numan Butt will not be allowed to attend any BoG and Committee meetings, said a spokesman of the PCB here.

Article 10(7) of the PCB Constitution reads as: “Any member, against whom a complaint is referred by the Chairman to the adjudicator, shall not be allowed to attend any meeting of the Board of Governors or any committee during the pendency of proceedings before the adjudicator”.

According to PCB legal advisor Taffazul Rizvi, they have been asked to continue the proceedings but Numan is intentionally prolonging the case. He further said that Numan’s lawyer Shaigan Ijaz did not attend the court today due to false excuses.

Shaigan Ijaz asserted that BoG member Asad Ullah Khan’s lawyer was not presented during the hearing. It was must for him to attend the hearing, he added. “Due to absence of his lawyer, we pleaded the court for extension which adjudicator approved adjourning the case till May 10”.

The complainant has also alleged Numan Butt for violating provisions of Article 19 of the PCB Constitution, which relates to Undertaking by Full Members and Associate Members of the General Body, which reads as:
