Shadab Khan's participation in World Cup becomes a mystery.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The participation of leg-spinner Shadab Khan in the World Cup 2019 has become a mystery after he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had revealed one day before team’s departure to England that the wrist-spinner was suffering from a dangerous viral infection, and would remain away from cricket for at least one month.

However, Dr Khalid Mahmood – head of Punjab’s hepatitis program – told while speaking to Dunya News that the disease cannot be cured in one month anywhere in the world.

“It takes at least three months for Hepatitis C patients to fully recover,” Dr Khalid Mahmood affirmed.

On the other hand, the PCB issued a media release four days ago in which it was stated that Shadab Khan’s medical test will be conducted on May 23 once again, and his inclusion in the World Cup squad will be decided afterwards.

It is worth mentioning here that Shadab Khan’s disease name was not mentioned either in the PCB media release, or by chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq in his press conference. Nevertheless, the board officials confirmed off camera that the wrist-spinner was diagnosed with Hepatitis C.

Pakistan team will play one T20I and five one-day international matches against England from May 5-19 ahead of the World Cup 2019. The mega event will begin on May 30 in England and Wales, and Pakistan will play their first match against West Indies on May 31.
