KARACHI (Dunya News) - Former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad defied Prime Minister Imran Khan’s decision today (April 27) to end departmental cricket in Pakistan.
Addressing to a press conference along Jahangir Khan and Islahuddin Siddique, Miandad criticed PM’s decision saying that departmental cricket is a source of earning for players. Country was making progress with the help of it.
“I can say with surety that if it wasn’t for PIA, Jahangir Khan wouldn’t be Jahangir Khan”, he expressed.
“People want jobs, no one wants to play cricket or hockey. Their helplessness is being taken advantage of.”, Mianded added talking about the Pakistan’s greatest problem, economy.
Javed Miandad further said Imran Khan himself had played country cricket in England in his time. “Were we crazy to play there? We played because of the money.”
“Imran Khan ask your PTI supporters who you have taken votes from if what we are saying is correct or is what you are saying correct,” Miandad added.
As per reports, premier who is also Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told PCB chairman Ehsan Mani to end the role of departmental cricket from the structure and restrict the domestic first-class tournaments to six provincial teams.
