Imamul Haq apologises to Watson after rude send-off in PSL final
Imam took to the twitter to apologise Quetta Gladiators all-rounder Shane Watson for the verbal spat
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Peshawar Zalmi opening batsman Imamul Haq, who had landed in hot waters after he gave Shane Watson a rude send-off in the finals of the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has tendered an apology after the internet shut him down for being rude to the guest player.
Imam took to the twitter to apologise Quetta Gladiators all-rounder Shane Watson for the verbal spat during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi.
He said: “Yesterday’s incident happened in the heat of the moment. My reaction to Watson’s inappropriate abusive comments was avoidable, for which I apologise.”
The Peshawar Zalmi opening batsman further said, “It was a good match and a great HBL PSL 2019, let’s enjoy its success. Congrats to Gladiators and Watson for the trophy and awards.”
The incident happened in the 3rd over when Shane Watson was run out and given a send-off by Imamul Haq. Imam pointed him towards the dressing room and both of them exchanged words.
However, it was Shane Watson who had the last laugh as Quetta Gladiators scored a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Peshawar Zalmi. Watson was also declared the best batsman and player of the tournament for his outstanding performance.
Zalmi were put into bat by Gladiators Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. Peshawar managed to score just 138 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Quetta chased down the target in the 18th over.
Earlier, Imamul Haq was roasted by the twitteratis afterwards. Here are some of the reactions:
