Glittering closing ceremony marks end of PSL-4
The ceremony began with a one minute silence to honour the martyrs of Christchurch terrorist attack.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – An impressive closing ceremony of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League 2019 took place at the National Stadium in Karachi, before the grand finale between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.
The ceremony began with a one minute silence to honour the martyrs of Christchurch terrorist attack.
Pakistani singers amused the spectators before the big match in the closing ceremony of the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League.
In the onset, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani thanked law enforcement agencies for restoring cricket and bringing flagship to the PSL.
The PCB chairman said that the hosting of PSL 2019 final in Karachi is an historic day. “This is a historic day for Karachi and Pakistan that we are hosting the finals of HBL PSL 2019,” said Mani.
He revealed that over 200,000 people have attended the Karachi’s National Stadium for the eight matches of PSL-Pakistan leg, whereas, millions have enjoyed watching the tournament on TV and digital platforms.
The PSL 2019 closing ceremony was kicked off with a one minute silence observed in remembrance of the Christchurch mass shooting victims.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called the successful PSL matches as a victory for the people of the city.
Murad Ali Shah while paying tribute to the victims of New Zealand’s mass shooting and condoling with the families of those killed in the attack said, “I would like to pay my respects to the 50 people who fell victim to the terror attack in New Zealand. I pray for them and also for the injured.”
“All the matches of PSL’s Pakistan leg this year were held in Karachi, that is a moment of triumph for Karachiites,” he said, while praising the public for their support of the tournament.
Thousands of spectators arrived at National Stadium Karachi to witness the cricketing event in the port city.
Nearly 32,000 will witness the showdown between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators as they compete for the Pakistan Super League 2018 title, expected to begin around 8pm local time.
Pakistani singing sensation Fawad Khan, Ibrarul Haq and Aima Baig were among the performers who mesmerized the cricket fans with their magical voice during the closing ceremony of Pakistan Super League in Karachi s National Stadium.
International footballers were present in the National Stadium to watch the alluring and enthralling final game of PSL between Gladiators and Zalmi.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi and others were also present at the stadium to watch the enthralling final of PSL.
