(Dunya News) – Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed on Friday met South African cricket all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo to extend an apology after racially commenting him earlier this week.

The incident created a lot of controversy as Sarfraz s comments were heard on the stump microphone during Pakistan s defeat in the second ODI in Durban.

Tendering an apology, the skipper took to micro-blogging website Twitter to share:

"This morning I apologised to Andile Phehlukwayo and he was gracious enough to accept my apology .and I hope the people of South Africa also accept my apology."

Earlier, the Pakistan captain, has issued a apology on Twitter for his on-field taunt during the second ODI on Tuesday.

However, responding to Sarfraz Ahmed, South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said that his team has forgiven Sarfraz Ahmed for his racially charged on-field.

"We forgive him because he said sorry," du Plessis said after South Africa s training session on Thursday. "He has apologised and taken responsibility for it. It is out of our hands and ICC will have to deal with it now."
