SA set the gigantic target of 372 run for Sri Lanka.

Web desk – New Zealand played outstandingly and secured the first win in three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka by 45 runs with a gigantic target of 372 runs for the tourist team.

Sri Lanka were all out at 326 run in 49 overs.

Veteran cricketer Martin Guptill scored his 14th ODI century in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, becoming the first centurion in 2019.

The match was played at Bay Oval, a cricket ground in Mount Maunganui, Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.

Reportedly, returning to the ODI team after a brief spell of injury layoff, Guptill helped the Kiwis in crossing 300-run mark after they chose to bat first.

However, his supporter on the other end skipper Kane Williamson got dismissed at 76 by dropping the ball to his stumps.

Colin Munro was out for 13 runs in 14 balls, followed by Ross Taylor, who played a remarkable innings of 54 runs for 37 balls only.

Henry Nicholls made only 15 runs of 12 balls.

The wicket keeper Tim Seifert could make only 11 runs of 10 balls when he got dismissed by veteran Lasith Malinga.

He was followed by a spectacular innings by James Neesham, who clinched 47 runs for only 13 balls, and was ‘not out’.

Mathew James Henry made 6 runs for 5 balls, when finally getting the team New Zealand to a gigantic 372 run target for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella played a remarkable innings of 76 runs in 50 balls when he was bowled by James Neesham.

Danushka Gunathilaka made 43 runs for 62 balls.
