National Stadium, which once was home to international cricket events, has now, after a long break, seen a new wave of cricket revival.

Completed in 1955, National Stadium’s first match was a test match between Pakistan and India, the same year on February 26.

The first one-day international was held between Pakistan and West Indies on November 21, 1980.

The size of the stadium was extended for 1987’s World Cup when three international matches were played. More renovations and improvements were made in the stadium during the 1996’s World Cup.

Speaking to Dunya News, former test cricketer, Iqbal Qasim said many cricket teams have played on this ground, including India and New Zealand. "And this stadium has also hosted many world cup matches.”

Pakistani cricket team has played most of their test matches in National Stadium.

Hopes are high with the return of the cricket in Pakistan as National Stadium hosts the PSL 3 final match.
