Duminy, Faheem propel Islamabad to the top
Islamabad United go top of the PSL 2018 points table with six-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators.
SHARJAH (Dunya News) – Jean-Paul Duminy and Faheem Ashraf starred as Islamabad United go top of the Pakistan Super League 2018 points table with six-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators in Sharjah on Friday.
In-form Duminy hit a classical fifty and Faheem Ashraf grabbed three crucial wickets when Quetta Gladiators were batting to guide their side to an easy victory.
Chasing a target of 148 to win, Islamabad United reached home with 10 balls to spare. JP Duminy scored 54 runs in 47 balls. His innings included four boundaries and two towering sixes.
Hussain Talat and Asif Ali also batted well for Islamabad. Hussain Talat scored 28 runs and Asif made 18 runs and both remained unbeaten. Ronchi (10), Hales (16) and Shadab Khan (18) also batted well.
Rahat Ali was the top wicket taker the Gladiators side for claiming two wickets by giving away 33 runs in 3.2 overs. Mir Hamza and Watson chipped in with one wicket each.
Earlier, Islamabad United won the toss and put Quetta Gladiators to bat first. Gladiators lost the first three wickets with just 41 runs on the board. Watson was the first man to go after making 8 runs followed by Roy who contributed 17 runs and Pietersen fell cheaply after making just seven runs.
Umar Amin and Sarfaraz Ahmad steadied Quetta Gladiators with a partnership of 64 runs for the fourth wicket. Umar departed in the 15 over after making 28 runs and was soon followed by Sarfaraz who contributed 43 runs. Rossouw (16*) and Hasan Khan (15*) stretched Quetta Gladiators to 147.
Faheem Ashraf was the pick of the Islamabad United bowlers claiming 3 wickets by giving away just 19 runs in his quota of four overs. Amad Butt also bowled well and grabbed two wickets for 30 runs. Hussain Talat and Patel claimed one wicket each.
