(Dunya News) – As Lahore prepares for Pakistan Super League s play off matches, security measures are being deliberated upon by administrative authorities for two matches which the city is scheduled to host later this month.
Four teams are scheduled to travel to Pakistan.
The matches are being viewed as part of a series of ongoing attempts to ensure the return of cricket back in Pakistani grounds.
Hosting for the play off matches, Lahore’s Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal held a meeting with traffic police, WASA, and many other administrative and security officials to discuss preparations and security during the mega event.
During the meeting, it was decided that roads will be sealed for public to access the surroundings of Nishter Sports Complex from March 18 to March 21.
Moreover, Sui gas supply will be shut during these days along with the nearby shops in the vicinity.
District administrators assessed and inspected the assigned parking areas.
According to APP, Commissioner Lahore division, Abdullah Khan Sumbal said that suggestions regarding closure of schools within three kilometres radius of stadium and partial suspension of Metro bus at 2pm on the match days were under consideration and the final decision would be taken by the Cabinet Committee of Punjab.
Regarding rescue and healthcare arrangements, one mobile to handle cardiac patients, 20 ambulances, 18 motorcycle rescuers, would be deputed and 20 rescue posts would be established. Also two improvised hospitals in stadium area and private hotels would also be maintained, he added.
About civic and administrative arrangements, he said all agencies and companies had been directed and checking as well as monitoring would be started from coming week.
He said that almost 36 small speedo buses, 20 big speedo buses and 40 coasters by Lahore Parking Company would be run to facilitate spectators from notified parking areas to the stadium.
Police and Rescue 1122 would conduct four mock exercises with traffic police from airport to team’s residence and Gaddafi Stadium.
Matches are scheduled for March 20 and March 21. The visiting teams will stay at Lahore’s five star hotel, and will depart on March 21 right after the match.
