Summary Sultans remained table-toppers.

(Dunya News) – Multan Sultans 183-3 (Maqsood 85, Dawson 1-17) beat Peshawar Zalmi 164-8 (Hafeez 56, Tanvir 3-14) by 19 runs in 16th fixture of Pakistan Super League (2018) here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

New comers Multan Sultans extended their dominance with a comprehensive victory over Peshawar Zalmi.

Being sent in to bat, Sultan openers started confidentially and added 51 runs for the first wicket in just 7.3 overs. The first to depart was Sangakara who made 28 useful runs. Later, Shoaib Maqsood joined Ahmed Shehzad and unleashed brutal onslaught. He hammered Zalmi’s bowlers all-over the ground and made 85 runs on just 42 balls.

Maqsood’s blistering knock included seven huge 6s and four 4s.

He along with Pollard guided Sultan to 183, the biggest total in ongoing PSL thus far.


Peshawar Zalmi innings



The pressure of the scoreboard got better of Zalmi’s openers as both departed early in pursuit of 184. However, the interim captain made useful partnerships with Wessels and Dawson.

Hafeez brought up his fifty on just 36 balls. At once stage, Zalmi required 33 runs in the last two overs. But Sohail Tanvir gave just two runs in the 19th over and picked up two important wickets. The over proved to be the turning point in the match and in the end, Zalmi fell well short of the target.
