Summary Misbah-ul-Haq has joined the United's squad.

(Dunya News) – Islamabad United 135 for 4 (Pieterson 48, Finn 3-35) beat Quetta Gladiators 134-7 (Ronchi 43, Ali 1-13) by six wickets in the ninth fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL-3) at Sharjah International Stadium.

Veteran Kevin Pieterson steered Quetta Gladiators to a comprehensive win over Islamabad United in Sharjah. The 37-year-old English batsman along with Mohammad Nawaz added 70 runs for the fourth wicket after Finn exposed the middle order of Gladiators with some quick pace.

The win means Gladiators have now moved to second position on the points table. They share similar points with new comers Multan Sultans but a better Net Run Rate (NRR) places Gladiators at the second spot ahead of Sultans.

The game was in the control from the very beginning of innings.

Watson and Shafiq added 31 runs before former departed. Watson looked to pull over midwicket but ended up toe-ending it to mid-on instead. He made 13 runs on 11 balls.

In the very next over, Umar Amin was deceived by varying bounce as Sami bowled him with a beautiful delivery.

Asid Shafiq was dismissed in similar fashion by Finn. He made useful contributions of 22 runs on 16 deliveries.

After three quick wickets, experienced Pieterson took commanding gear and hammered bad deliveries all across the ground. He missed his fifty by just two run. On the other hand, calm Nawaz brought Quetta home comfortably along with skipper Sarfraz.

Islamabad United innings

From beginning, the bowlers kept it hard for batsmen to score boundaries as bounce varied throughout the innings. As pressure mounted, Walton tried to go big but was dismissed by Anwar Ali. The right-hand batsman managed only 10 runs on seven balls. Asif Ali followed him shortly in the fifth over. He scored merely one run.

Ronchi’s blitz in the middle changed the equation for a while. He hammered 24 runs in the last over of the power-play. However, 19-year-old Hassan Ali dented the momentum by removing set batsman. Ronchi made blitzing 43 on just 26 balls. His innings included seven 4s and one 6.

After Ronchi’s departure, Misbah and Duminy failed to score boundaries at regular intervals. Duminy fell after wasting 26 precious deliveries. He tried to up the pace by going over the bowler s head. Good-length ball on leg stump that cramped Duminy up just a bit. Misbah followed him soon.

Quetta kept things under check and United managed only 134 runs in allotted 20 overs at the cost of seven wickets.

Misbah-ul-Haq joined the United’s squad after missing first two games. To strengthen the batting department, South African explosive batsman JP duminy has also joined the United team in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Gladiators made two changes as John Hastings and Mahmudullah made a comeback.
