Summary Karachi Kings beat Peshawar Zalmi by 5 wickets to go top of the Pakistan Super League points table.

DUBAI (Dunya News) – Karachi Kings registered a 5-wicket victory over Peshawar Zalmi in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 match played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

It was Karachi Kings second victory in as many outings in the third edition of the PSL. Karachi Kings captain hit a six to guide his side to victory with two balls to spare. The win also guided Karachi Kings to the top of the Pakistan Super League points table.

Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy won the toss and elected to bat first. His decision proved disastrous Peshawar Zalmi were restricted to 131-9 by some accurate bowling and fielding by the Karachi Kings. Three of the Zalmi players were run out

Kamran Akmal and Tamim Iqbal started Peshawar Zalmi at a brisk pace with Akmal hitting two fours and a six in the first over bowled by Imad Wasim. Akmal was removed by Muhammad Amir in the next over on his personal score of 14. Amir also removed Tamim (11) in his second over.

Only Dwayne Smith played with perfection and made a fighting unbeaten 71 runs despite watching the wickets tumble at the other end. He was also involved in three run outs in Zalmi innings as they were restricted to 131 for the loss of nine wickets. No other Zalmai batsman reached the double figure.

For Karachi, Muhammad Amir and Shahid Afridi claimed two wickets each while Muhammad Irfan (Jr) and Tymal Mills got one wicket each.

In reply, Karachi Kings reached the target for the loss of five wickets in the last over of the match. Joe Denly (29), Babar Azam (28), Colin Ingram (23), Muhammad Rizwan (19) and Ravi Bopara (17*) contributed well in Kings victory.

Chris Jordan and Ibtisam Sheikh bowled well for the Peshawar Zalmi and claimed two wickets each while Muhammad Asghar chipped in with one wicket.

Dwayne Smith on Peshawar Zalmi was named man of the match.
