U19 WC: Pakistan beat South Africa by 3 wickets in quarterfinal

CHRISTCHURCH (Dunya News) – Pakistan have on Wednesday defeated South Africa by three wickets in the Under-19 World Cup quarterfinal at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

Pakistan won the toss and put the Proteas into bat. South Africa scored 189 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their limited quota of 50 overs.

Wandile Makwetu remained the top scorer for South Africa with 60 runs. Pakistan’s Muhammad Musa sent three batsmen back to the pavilion.


The Green Shirts, in reply, chased down the target in 47.5 overs with three wickets to spare. Ali Zaryab Asif played an unbeaten innings of 74 runs and guided his team to victory.
